Title: A newby from Iceland
Post by: karlas on August 01, 2013, 04:23:31 PM
Helo to you all, MadModders, from Iceland.

I am a retired electronics service engineer, for the last 40 years servicing laboratory instruments,
all types , electronic , electronic - phneumatic , electronic - mechanical , electronic - liquid , everything there is........

Obviously everything technical is of interest to me, although my doings have only been workrelated untill now (unfortunately) .

I have for the longest time been dreaming of building something as a hobby, engines or anything,
using lath / mill / router /  etc.. interest in steam/phneumatic , hot air , IC  etc.......

Have not done any preperation yet to aquire instruments, but am working on that ........

Hi there, gentlemen.

thank you for your warm wellcome........

I have been reading posts here for some time, and absorbing all the information that there is,
and that is a lot, something like gold and diamond mines combined.

It thrills me to my bones to see what you are building and how you all contibute to solving ones problems.

And all the diversity of things that are presented on this forum fascinates me.

I am sure that I am in the right place, first to be educated and hopefully later on getting help when needed.

Karl

Hi Karl and wellcome.

I have started the other way around i.e. from models and such into lab equipment (some very complicated indeed).

I guess that it will be all the easier for you to find your way. Regarding "empty pockets ha ha ha"
I am at exactly the same position as many of us I imagine......

Welcome again,

George from a boilling Greece.

George,  thank you, still learning, problem is that my ROMīs get overloaded easily
and I am finding that my RAMīs are becoming RaMīs or even just R Mīs, i believe
this is due to aging ............  but I also find that if interest level is high enough
everything works better........

David D,  thank you very much for this, having the word I googled it and found that
it is of Greek origin and its meaning is litterally the same as the Icelandic word,
I am even learning english here, in addition to all the other stuff ............
