I need to use oval aluminium swage ferrules to rig standard steel cable.
Bit like this:
https://www.e-rigging.com/How-to-Select-and-Use-Swage-Sleeves
Local shop had cable and ferrules etc. But nothing to crimp ferrules. I need to terminate only few - does not warrant for really expensive dies and press.
I probably could make a simple jig/crimp, but I have no good idea to what ID and width should the die be.
Any advice?
Thank you,
Pekka

Excellent link, that needs saving for future reference

Do you have/can get access to a finished one to measure? Spring back on those should be minimal... just make a cavity to match the finished part.
Otherwise you need to experiment and load test :-(

This video will give you a good idea of what is needed, I suggest making something up to fit your vice.

Thank you. Here those pliers are common up to 6 mm steel cable size and then whole lot bigger hydraulic ones.
I think that gauge diameter is close to 18 mm with the 8 mm ferrules I have. If I read the tables right I need 30 metric tons to press the dies.
There must be something (like hydraulic swage) in German e-bay. I'll trawl in the evening, after I get home.
This looks interesting:
Maybe something like this:
I wish I had the dimenssions for the critical parts, therefore I asked.
