When "the model" makes her jam or pickles she adds a brawn liquid stuff to jam to prevent it from fermenting and being infacted by mushrooms - in Denmark it's called "Atamon" !
Add this to your flood cooleant and it will not smell any more ! :)

Atamon has sugar in it. I don't know how good that is in this case...
Anyway, the active parts are sodium benzoate (E211) and benzoic acid (E210)
Two standard food preservatives. :)

What harm could sugar do ?

I was making that chuck adaptor for my Traub the other day, and the chips were coming off so hot and blue if the coolant had had sugar in it would have caramelised. There are some times when the work gets hot enough to burn sugar I suspect

Rots ya teeth Ksor, :D  Also now they tell us that it is likely to increase blood pressure, letting salt off the hook some. Yeah I know you dont drink the coolant, do you :offtopic: Naughty John.

Maybe an ingredience in "Atamon" IS sugar, but you add so little to the cooleant, that there could NEVER be any caramelised sugar on the chips - no way !
I'm sure you can't even taste it if you chew the chips :palm:

I don't know if this could be considered a "trick" - I bought some rather expensive fully-synthetic cutting oil, it's been in the machine about 2 years now and, other than regular top-ups due to spillage losses (I really need a milling machine in a box...), has remained untouched. No stink, and no slime either. It's starting to get a bit grubby with tramp oil, but it still works like a charm.
