The one I made at school (Latin lesson competition!) would throw a cricket ball the full length of the parade ground and drop it neatly into the open air swimming pool quite repeatedly  :ddb:

The repeatability of the trebuchet was one of the features that made it such a feared weapon.  It could repeatably hit the same spot on a castle wall and that battering action would soon breach the wall.
