Trebuchet

Eugene:
The trebuchet in the link I posted is in deepest rural Shropshire near Acton Round.

I attended a gun dog trial there about four years ago and saw it in the flesh; a bit of a surreal experience to sit by it with a flask of coffee and a sarnie!

Down the road from where I live is a farm that sells pumpkins during the fall months. They never sell all of them though, there's always a large pile of unwanted pumpkins after Halloween. They would make ideal ammunition for a trebuchet only a little larger than the one in Triker's first post!

This would definitely be a step up from the potato cannon I currently play with...

Pumpkins are good! I always watch the pumpkin shoot on the tv its amazing just how much work and time to create these machines!

There was one at Warwick Castle when I was there a couple of years ago.

Back in the 60's when i was a kid there was a article in the paper about a guy that made a catapult out of leafsprings to fire dumplings,  he used it to fire at low flying aircraft from the airport the caption read "dumplings that go splat when they hit!"
