premium rate phone scam? Wakefield is an engineering town, i doubt you would have to go to this length to shift any lathe there!

Hermetic,

The lathe is here..

...lathes.co.uk/page3.html

It's top of the list in lathes for sale.

By the way, this afternoon  I rang the number to inquire ,  but got an answering service. I left a message for Jonathan to ring back if he still had the lathe.
But as I have had no reply I assume it is already passed on.

Dave

p.s.  it's an eleven digit phone number so I assume it is a mobile.

Yes, just checked the number and it's kosher, must be getting cynical in my old age. I thought it strange that there was no "lathes.com" Apologies to Jonothan. Hope you get lucky!

Actually the .co.uk and .com have the same meaning, they are .co= company, and .com means commercial( usually USA) see http://www.teckna.com/helpdesk/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=52
The OP post says lathes.com, which as I said before, does not exist. I was working on the rule that any offer that seems to be to good to be true probably is. When I checked the number only a few moments later, and it checked out to the named person I realised it was legit, and printed my apology, sorry for any confusion, but you do have to be carefull out there. Lathes.co.uk, I have known and used for many years!

Sorry for the typo.

When I enter "lathes.com" into Google, "lathes.co.uk" is at the top of the list.

No problem Eugene, so, come on, who got it and where are the pictures and the inevitable gloat? Don't tell me that all the members were so busy on the net they missed it!

No problem mattinker, I realise now what happened, I put the url "lathes.com straight into the address bar, didn't use google, and the result was a blank page, Thats when I thought that it looked a bit iffy. I did notice it looked like a mobile number, so checked it on the off chance, and it came back as good.
A few years ago I was recovering after a mid life eyesight crisis (cataracts in both eyes at 40) and I went down to my local jobcentre to see what job/retraining opportunities were available. I was offered a job going round nightclubs and pubs doing survey work, I applied (along with many others(unemployment in the town was at 24% at this time) and heard no more. Later found out that all the details of the applicants had to be faxed to some address in guernsey or somesuch place. In short, it was a fax scam, the "job" had been circulated to all the uk jobcentres, and many thousands had applied, I wonder how much they made of the UK taxpayer on that one.
BTW how is the shoulder? I am waiting for that rocket stove to be finished!!

Hi Phil,

The shoulder is very slow to heal, physiotherapy three times a week, I'm still having trouble sleeping, not pain free positions! Thanks for the interest in the "Rocket Stove" I did some more and completely loused up the video I shot, so I'm going to video making some more parts and get something up soon!

Regards, Matthew.
