Just Sayin' Hello
« on: March 24, 2009, 01:52:10 AM »
Hi All,
This seems to be a great forum, I hope I can fit in.
My interests include, live steam models, any sort of old machinery, unusual contraptions, hobby CNC , mechanical devices and machining in general.
I guess I'm a bit of Machine-aholic, i picked up this forum from a you tube clip demonstrating a ball turning attachment on a mini lathe, that was unusual and innovative.
I hope to pick up and share some ideas with like minded people.

Best regards

Ralph

Hi Ralph2,

I am sure with your love of all things mechanical, you will drop into the pattern almost straight away.

I hope you follow in the same vein as our other Ralph (the one who's post you followed from utube), a real class act, worse than all of us others put together.

Just join in when you feel the need to, no higher ups here, just down to earth guys, with down to earth answers (and questions).

Hi Ralph   Welcome to the collective  :borg:

You can't go much wrong on here.... I'm not sure what "worse than all of us put together" means?
But knowing John, It means I've got  :proj: and I walk around in a constant quandry as to what I can do to increase my hobby work load and how far out of my skills I can push the process to make it!!?   :)

Plenty of stuff to read on here these days.... So much I can barely keep up   :coffee:

Speaking of stuff.... I'm sure you'll be aware that most of us can't function without a good picture of two..... Have you got the facilities?
:worthless:  I think we might need a version of that with "this thread is" removed?  (Eric.... is this possible?)

Anyway... I'm rambling as usual.... Enjoy the site and add to any threads as you like

Ralph.

I know what I know and need to know more!!!

You are in good company then, our Darren has some disease where he has to buy a new machine a month.

As Ralph said, welcome to the collective :borg:

I think you will find us a decent group... if a bit odd. :)

Thanks to all,

As you can see by my avatar I can't help picking up those machinery bargains, the one pictured is a neglected tawinese lathe I saw in a freinds plating works in many greasy and dusty peices, just below the surface I know there is nice machine just waiting to be returned to its former glory.

I will keep you posted as I start the reincarnation.

Regards Ralph

Hi Ralph,

As always I'm late to the party, but then you had one day head start. :D

You'll fit in nicely with the rest of the  :borg:. Also sounds like you've got quite a bit of diverseity of interests.

Seems like the Britt's and their cousins are taking over the forum. Not to many Colonials joining.

Have fun and lets see some pics of your shop or recent projects. No pressure here, right? :poke:  :poke:

Regards,
Bernd

Bernd,

As I tell everyone, you are welcome, take us how you find us, and we don't even charge much for the coffee.
But don't leave it too long, I am expecting a permanent visitor from Moscow in the not too distant future, and my little house soon becomes very crowded.

Not taking over, just helping out.
We Brits are very fussy where we park our bums, so it is a good sign for you that so many of us congregate here.
If the site was no good, we would be away like a rat up a drainpipe.

That's how I take it John. A good international membership shows a good forum.

No problem we'll bring tents.  :)

Bernd,

You still can't read me right, can you?

Signed off as Bogs means normally I am in a very jovial mood.

And now you have made us both go  :offtopic:
