maximit v10-p lathe

Hello my name is Damien.  I have bought a maximit v10-p lathe and I'm having a problem with the gears on it.  It wont stay into 2nd and 4th speed and was just wondering does anyone know anything about this problem.  I have also took apart the 3 jaw chuck and clean it and put it back together and it is sticking when I screw the chuck in so far. Thank you.

I would 2nd that! The Emco user group is very handy, I have a non P V10 myself :)

I'd take the top cover plate off on the gearbox and make sure the gears and selectors are ok, they do get damaged quite easy with heavy handed use..
