I needed an adjustable traveling steady for a thin tapered bar....

 Good Contrattion Skyrocket  :thumbup: , I was hoping to see if it worked at the end  :dremel: , I hope it did, I suppose you will be able to put stronger spring in if it does not give enough support. Hopefully it will work as it certainly looks the part and well done on the video work too  :bow:

 A useful contraption, must try and make two for my lathe.  Unfortunately my steady has flat fingers, so it will need bit of      thought. Like the video, so much better than stills and text.

But just a comment, please take it constructively: NEVER leave the chuck key in the chuck as shown at the beginning of the video - the key should be regarded as part of your hand and not the chuck. It's only the flick of a switch away from impaling itself in something or somebody.  :bugeye:
