A handful of them have been advancing it continuously for a hundred years or so because they include a bunch of otherwise dignified grown men who are somehow nutty enough to build and race steam powered model hydroplanes tied to a cable in mucky ponds. 10,000 rpm on a 1 cubic inch engine developing multi HP at 120 mph is no big deal to them.
