Mechanical seal barrier fluid ?

Hi All

Just trying to get some further information/advice here. I have an application which uses two mechanical seals (different shafts - not back to back). Ideally these will work best if a barrier fluid is employed. Typically a good barrier fluid is water with some glycerin (so says the internet). However the shaft is steel and the shaft bearing is behind a rubber lip seal, so I am concerned about corrosion. I had thoughts of using the same stuff that is used for corrosion prevention in central heating systems. Well it seems like a plan ..

Any help/advice much appreciated.

Paraffin? Maybe....

We use seal pots  at work... I'll try and find out what the seal fluid is..
