Hardinge Cataract Lathe
« on: August 24, 2013, 08:17:35 AM »
Does anyone on here know anything about these lathes.

I have a chance to purchase this for what i think is a half decent price but i dont know anything about them.

I have been on Lathes UK site and read all that Tony has written..

It comes with a full 5C collet set, two chucks that fit into the 15/16 collet.

i envision this lathe to be quite handy at turning between centers small stuff and it would sit on my bench quite nicely.

Thanks  Anthony.

There is a gentleman on the "other" site that is pretty knowledgeable on these. Look up posts by L Vanice. there is one titled "Elgin and Hardinge History". tons of post by this guy about these types of machines.
I have an Elgin version of what you are looking at. Not using iit at the moment, but I think it will be cool to get gone for the little things.
