Love watching your videos. I learn a lot from them and they are enjoyable to watch.
 
I need a dividing head and this is on my list of projects. One question, you say a couple of times that the way your are locking the shaft is much better than sawing a split along the length. I like the way you have done it, as it is really neat but will the clamp mark the shaft at all and cause a burr? I also assume this is the primary way of locking the shaft and will be tight enough to hold the chuck rigid for milling operations?

Another great video, John. I'm learning a lot.
Did you make the long boring bar you used? Is it silver steel?  (drill rod in the US) I ask because of the odd size. You said it was .914", which I think is not a standard size in imperial or metric.

I don't think it will mark the shaft
T he sort of loadings it will get in use should be no problem
Many lathe tail stocks are locked in this way
It is not my idea that part is per drawing

My grandfather came from wall's end on the tyne said nothing about masks but my son picked it up
