I'm glad you overcame the many challenges that would have made a lot of people throw their hands up in the air and flick on the telly. Good to see you didn't seriously injure yourself either. Although, I have set myself on fire with a 9" grinder twice now :zap: That is an interesting little furnace you have there and I'd like to see/hear more about it sometime. Finally - just curious how long that took you from start to finish? I'm not planning to make one myself but I am curious as to how much time we have before you amass your army and set forth on a quest of world domination. --- End quote --- I'm kicking myself for not timing it, to be honest. Other people have said it takes them about 60 hours to make a similar helmet, and that time seems about right. But that doesn't take into account the time spent building other stuff. From start to finish on collecting materials and reading about stuff, it's been about 6 months. Thats alot of time for a wobbly helmet but I learned a fair bit along the way. I've got a few videos on making that forge starting here. They're a bit slower paced than my newer videos though so I hope you can stomach lots of footage of grinding and very crude welding. It's pretty much the same as the one in this article by Eric Thing though. Although I simplified it a bit. http://www.anvilfire.com/article.php?bodyName=/plans/ething_forge/sheet_metal_forge.htm |

I'd been using the old ones as a hearth before I cut them up. Will you be in next weekend? |

I watched the videos today and I was very impressed, both with the standard of the work and your self taught skills. Well done.   Russell |
