Toolholders for tripan toolpost |

Hello folks, I just obtained a nice Tripan 111 toolpost with one toolholder on ebay, so i decided to make eight more toolholders. For those not familiar with the Tripan, here is a picture of it: I decided to use a prehardened toolsteel for those holders. I got enough material to make eight of them: First on to the shaper, machine the outer contour: The dovetail will also be machined on the shaper, but i roughed it out on the mill: Back on the shaper, i finished the dovetail: Measuring the with of the doveteil: Nice fit: After the dovetails where machined, each of the two profile pieces was cut into four individual toolholder blanks. Heading on to the milling machine, the slots for the toolbit where roughed out: The slots where finished with a nice 6 flute carbide endmill: The countersink for the height adjustment nut was also cut: Two of the holders were designated to be boring tool holders, so they where drilled and reamed to accept 12mm tooling: The height adjustment nuts where machined in two pieces, the nut itself from free cutting steel and the collar from drill rod (will be hardened later on): The nuts blackened and the collars hardened: Put together with a bit of Loctite 648: I made the nuts from two pieces as I didnt want to knurl drill rod :D The boring bar holders where split on the bandsaw: Everything got a nice coat with a cold blue, some gun oil and a light touch off with scotch brite to give it a used look: One original toolholder, eight copies :D I am pretty happy how they came along :) Now i need to turn the screws (with a square head) and make a suitable square-head-wrench for them...
