Milling: 3/4" depth of cut, shifting 300 cubi inches per minute

Watch the lefthand side from 2.00 to 2.10 to see the swarf brush catch fire.
There doesn't seem to be any coolant.

I love seeing the chipping "grow", from right to left.
The Tip Rep always insisted, no coolant. As this creates rapid temperature changes at the tips cutting edge. Causing cracking.. :smart:

But....... What did the finished surface look like?????

Hi Andy,
That machining center is a nice bit of kit, it would need to be capable of those metal removal rates to justity its initial and running costs. Wouldn't surprise me if it was running 24/7.
Nice to see some real engineering.
Cheers David
NeoTech:
Running either carbide or ceramic inserts ive learned that u need chip clearing but no coolant. The coolant creates microcracks by shocking the surface.
