Watch the lefthand side from 2.00 to 2.10 to see the swarf brush catch fire. There doesn't seem to be any coolant. Andy |

I love seeing the chipping "grow", from right to left. The Tip Rep always insisted, no coolant. As this creates rapid temperature changes at the tips cutting edge. Causing cracking.. :smart: David D |

But....... What did the finished surface look like?????   |

Hi Andy, That machining center is a nice bit of kit, it would need to be capable of those metal removal rates to justity its initial and running costs. Wouldn't surprise me if it was running 24/7. Nice to see some real engineering. Cheers David |
NeoTech:
Running either carbide or ceramic inserts ive learned that u need chip clearing but no coolant. The coolant creates microcracks by shocking the surface. |
