Afternoon Lads

I was using my press today ,had the camera out so thought I would take a few snaps . The press is home shop build from salvaged parts .


Its about 4 1/2 ft tall and 25 tonne .
 

The hydraulic pack is make from a railway crossing barrier motor/pump , this is 440v so I added a cap so it will run on single phase , the motor only runs when the lever is operated , I made the tank , the valve block is from a forklift truck , it was a 5 slice valve block that  I stripped and made it into a single .





Every  1000 psi is 5 tonne , the hose are fitted with quick connects so I can use it to power other things like my shop made rivet closer .




Basically a 6.3 tonne C clamp  :lol:  that I was using to close 3/8 and 1/2 rivets

Not done so well with the fag packet though has it ???   :lol:
Or are they 6.4 tonne tabs ???

I have never seen the rivet closer working but I have seen the results  :bow: :bow: :bow:

A couple of shots of my ruff and ready bender .




Just made from three bits of angle welded to a bit plate to form the vee , bends 1/2" x 6" wide plate a treat , one day i will get round to making a more elegant version .

I also have a couple of hydraulic motors  ready for when I decided to make a set of rolls  :proj:

Hi Rob , that press is top notch, one of my items I hope to build in a future project...........how did you come across a railway barrier motor  :scratch: ................. or am I better off not knowing lol.

Makes my Atlas screw press look a bit anemic. Actually even a car jack does that to it!

Hi Mick

When leaving the village on my way too work one morning I noticed some lads changing the railway barriers , with my eagle eyes   and the fact that they had the covers off the barriers I noticed that they had hydraulic units in them , so pulled my van over ,had a bit crack with the lads and asked if i could have one , they said sure they are getting scrapped  any way so out comes my spanners from the van and five minutes later i was on my way with one of the pump units  :) shy bairns get nowt .

Now you have spoiled it for me Rob - here I was picturing some poor sod stuck at the level crossing for three days waiting for the barrier to lift up!
