I've been kind of fascinated by this primitive pole lathe. There are a few modernized and cleaned up hard wood tung oiled versions out on the internet, that look quite nice. Yet I keep coming back to re-watch this video series of Ben Orford's -- he turns a bowl with handmade hook tools stuck in tree limbs on something that looks like an old broken fence gate.

I love this kind of stuff.
