Hi Folks

Thanks for the replies - plenty of ideas now.

I use the fine feed most of the time.

Cheers

The DRO was the first mod on my VMC, closely followed by the drilling handle.
I have'nt done any boring on my mill so never used the fine feed. For drilling I use the large handles and for milling I raise the Knee. For ridgiditys sake I'd probably use the knee for boring as well but guess it's a personal thing I need to try both ways.

Ahh, well... There's the difference.... I ain't got a knee mill!

Is your knee powered?  That's where I got the idea for my mod' I watched Bogs bore an amazingly smooth shiny cylinder with stunning ease using the powered knee on his mill   :borg:

Problem solved

The proper and accurate way is as Divided has done. All the others will have play in the depth stop and also nut theyre attached to.

Done all 3 of mine off the quill as Divided has done before going over to full on dro 6yrs ago. You can see the alum bracket screwed to casting. Although not a 626, same principle. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL15/728921/1252422/392394060.jpg

Hi Folks

Thanks for all the input.

Jonny I see what you mean about mounting direct to Quill I will keep any eye open for a piece of material of suitable size to make a collar - saying that I`m sure a while ago I saw a mounting where the person had used some kind of large jubille clip to mount onto the collar on the quill but I cant seem to find anything on that at the moment.

Thanks again

Paul
