Just remembered John Rudd mentioned coming to Vermont this summer as well, and in that case, John you might want to check out the American Precision Museum about a half hour north of where I live, in Windsor, VT.

If you're into steam boats and a few hours north, near Burlington, the Shelburne Museum has the Ticonderoga, and a lot of other interesting things, though not much engineering oriented.

Just reporting in. when in London we stumbled queit litterally into a canny we museum " David Kirtaldy's testing works " free admition and you get a guided tour .they do take donations. They have kept things judt as is .what i mean is they havant kidified it. Well worth a look if your in the area
Had a look round the Paris "musee des arts et metlers" today absoloutly brilliant .allot of very interesting displays .give me a rose engine over the mona lisa any day :)
Suposse i better get back to drinking beer and whatching the French country side go buy lol
