40 Power Tools You Can Make - from Abe Books - Very cheap approx $11.00 - collection of fairly old but fascinating descriptions from 40's 50's 60's regarding making your own power tools plus some general shop tips.

Great illustrations - clean cut looking chaps with ties on and workshop aprons over thier good clothes - just oozing with good clean cut respectability and family values.

Making and Modifying Machinery - by Taunton Press (reprints from Fine Woodworking Magazine) in 1986 - available on Amazon - plenty of reviews already written on Amazon. Very good very practical guides for building all sorts of power tools.
