What amazes me is they have played down this storm compared to the way they normally report and pre-report storms. We are around 700/800 miles top the east and the winds are blowing steady 30/35 miles an hour with Gusts a long the west shore of lake Huron from 70 mph to 40 plus locally. I just was standing at the patio doors in the kitchen. The sky was flashing blue white like it was lightening, went out side and it was the flash of numerous power transformers giving their lives to Mother Nature. Our power has been off a couple times over night/yesterday.
They weren't kidding when they said it will have an impact on every state east of the Mississippi River. We had some snow flakes mixed with the driving sideways rain, West Va. got a foot of snow yesterday/overnight. Virgina had a hurricane on the East side of the state and blizzard conditions on the West side! in the 70's I was in West Virgina and they got 27"s of snow in 8 hours in the mountains.
I'm glad that as of last report Eric and family are doing good considering their location. 7½ million people currently with out power along the states affected on the coast. I'm glad I refilled the two empty gas cans just in case, so I have about 60 gallons with the truck, generator and cans. Last time there was a major outage it was 5 days.
Well the power just went off, for a minute or so. Got top love them UPS!
Hope your conditions steadily improve Eric
