A lathe pondering.
« on: October 18, 2012, 05:45:20 AM »
In my spindle tube, in the "back" of it.. there is a large thread.. a relly big one..  Its always getting filled up with shavings from lathe work.. and ive been wondering what purpose that thread have..  thinking i should maybe make a cap and thread into there as well.. cause im getting tired of clearing chips from it.

Is it for fitting a collet closer?
Cheers!

ade is right it is for a collet closer. if you cap it the chips will just continue to go in there packing themselves in let the chips go thru and make it easy to clean out the tube. jonesie
