My Economy Dust Cyclone
(1/1)
Harvey Melvin Richards:
Around 25 years ago I bought a Craftsman fiberboard shop vacuum at an auction. The vac was garbage, but the fiberboard drum proved to be very useful. I added a PVC elbow to the bottom of the intake and it became a dust cyclone. It works so well that I haven't done a thing to it in 25 years.
When I hook this up to my thickness planer or router all of the chips land in a nice spiral pattern in the bottom. It also works very well on sanding dust, although the dust doesn't land in a spiral.

This one has worked so well for me that I never felt the need to improve on it.
