Model Engine Builder magazine, Format change/ subscription price reduction
PTsideshow:
Now this is my own opinion, but in talking to him and his wife at the N.A.M.E.S. shows and on the phone. One of the biggest complaints people have had is the length of time between issues. Not withstanding that it is a small operation, and he has had some bad health issues.
After the bad feelings that the Modeltec folding and ripping people off has left in the model engineering community. People were beginning to not subscribe or renew. I prefer a paper collection but will wait and see since most of the projects are beyond either my skill set or interest level. I can only print out what I need.
I have a couple complete sets of issues a couple of magazines, and have a digital subscription to a UK magazines on miniatures along with all of the back issues that are on line. I can say that they are great and I have them all on my tablet and have kept me from loosing my mind during my fathers summer of health issues, and hospital stays!
Like John says having a ½ &½ collection might be a pain, But if they have all of them in digital. Then I might sell the paper ones and go digital all the way.

Must admit, I prefer the old paper format, you can at least read them wherever you are, in bed, in front of the TV, in a tent in the middle of a field, etc. What is slightly annoying is the sheer number of parts some articles are broken down into; yes, I know model making is an intricate thing, but does it really need to be split into 75 parts? I'd rather the mag had fewer concurrent builds, and longer individual articles about its main projects, hence fewer parts.

Well I've subscribed since it started and have no problem with it going over to pdf, infact I've had a few pdf drawing revisions from them and the quality has been fine. I'll just save them to disc as they come in and print off anything that I want to take into the workshop.
One thing about MEB was that most engines never ran over more than two issues except , I think the main reason for this was that they got all the drawings onto the A3 sheets so the actual mag contentwas kept down.
Looking forward to a more regular intake now
