Doggy broblem with shell mill arbor
« on: June 17, 2011, 04:28:54 PM »
Long story short: My mill has a provision for MT3 dog arbor. I had MT3 slitting saw arbor and some shell mills, but no smart way of putting them to work together and make a many many little chips.

How hard it can be to put a dog into a arbor?

I turned a cup that had most proper diameters right, drilled hole, Used Machine reamer to do close to 16mm H7 hole. This is not critical.

I had some consideration of squarness of mating faces, most of the dimensions are not critical, but it would be nice to get the shell mill seat straight and concentric....othervice it would just funny looking indexable fly cutter

Arbor does the centering - easy - it comes from the factory have to trust that one.

Hard part and is to get "spacer" faces square. I didn't succeed completely. It's not too bad, but how would you have done it better?

This is how I did it:
