Gear knob for a Robin Hood
Ross:
Hi everyone,
Today I made a new gearstick for my dads car, it's a robin hood kit car - apologies for the lo Res picture!
He bought it recently fully built, I can't see this being the last mod I'll have to do to it!
Here is the gearknob that was replaced, he wanted something a bit more slick and that would be able to grip onto better than the "golf ball"
he wanted something a bit more slick and that would be able to grip onto better than the "golf ball" aboe so here is what I made nothing too special but it fits the purpose!
It has a slight chamfer on the base going up to a radius on the corner. I made the radius with a file on the lathe and tapped an M12 hole to thread into the gearstick.
I haven't picture of it fitted as of yet as I need to polish it some more and it's too dark to fit it!
All in a days work for a lazy Friday!

I love your Dad's taste in cars!
That purely functional gear knob, looks just the job too.....
Just wondering.........
How long before he lets you try it out??

That gear knob is much better and in keeping. I've always fancied building a Robin Hood / Caterham etc. They are amazing fun.
