Hi Lads I made use of the sand cores i made last week and cast my cylinder This picture shows the sand core in the mould The small round bit is where the metal is poured in (sprue) the rectangulsr bit is the riser This feeds the casting as it cools This shows where the riser has been cut off (nice clean solid metal) This is always a welcome sight Very happy with it I cast this yesterday with poor results Nasty void in the riser (scrap casting) At least you can always cut it up and re melt it I could not resist machining at least one face Good clean metal John |
