To day I was running around the net and found this. I like the idea as an improved method. this is the address to take a look: Mini-Lathe Dream Cutter http://www.dreamcutter.com/sd_product_mldc.html The video is here take a look: http://www.dreamcutter.com/mldc_video.html Nelson Collar |

Nelson I actually quite like that. I would be very interested to hear any reports on how it functions in the real life setting. I can see its possibilities but I can see some weaknesses. Anthony. |

Over complicated and long winded IMHO. I've seen this before and it's too involved. Looks bloody dangerous when you see it near the chuck too! :bugeye: Steve Bedair's version is so much simpler and works a treat. Ok, so you have to make a few changes to get the convex cuts... But it works just the same. Just my 2 penneth. Ralph. |

On the video, it says it's "robust", then a bit later that it helps avoid tool breakage by absorbing shocks, which seems a bit contradictory. It doesn't look very robust; there seem to be lots of overhang and various swivel joints. Andy. |
nel2lar:
I myself agree with too much movement. But if it has locks on the pivot points that would only let one pivot move at a time, I see it very workable. And the price they get for it, it must be more than what you see. Nelson Collar |
