I know you're all probably fed up with the glow in the dark stuff by now but this was completed the other week and has been sitting on my hard drive asking nicely to be shown to the world. So...
Here's my Buck camping knife...

This is fine but I decided to make it easy to find in the dark,
Clamped to a piece of ali box section.

I then traced around the inside of the cutouts with a 3mm round carbide burr. This created an indent approx mid depth of the cutout.

Leaving a nice ghost behind

I decided to use my glass plate to pour on. But since this epoxy resin sticks so well to the plate it actually removes glass when you chip it off! I smeared a bit of Vaseline on the glass under the knife itself. Then firmly ductaped it into position

I mixed up a quantity of clear epoxy resin and GID powder and spooned it into the cavities with the scraper, Then chased around the edges with a pick to make sure it contacted all the sides. (archive pic' just to help visualise! Hence size diff')

The resin was then trimmed off with a long flexible blade smeared with Vaseline. This was a 5 min' resin and set probably faster than that... It was tough to cut off, a sawing action was needed and without the Vaseline I don't think it'd have been too easy cause it was still tacky.

The completed knife....

And in the dark... After the initial charge it glows eerily for 8-10hrs

And that was that... Probably took no more than 30min's and it was pretty much cured in a further 10min's too!
That's it machining/modding wise for a little while till I'm back on my feet and able to stand tall and sit hunched over!
(been sliced and diced due to hernia

Hence my more than normal activity over the last week!)
Ralph.
