Has anyone heard of vesconite? Is it available anywhere in small quantity? I can think of several uses in the home shop and for projects but haven't been able to locate anyone that sells it in small quantity.

I had never heard of it before, plus anything that ends in 'ite' I have a great suspicion of, as it usually means it is a one company patent product.

I did a web search, and very little about sales in the US came up, there were a few in the UK, and this looks very much like the Australian parent company.

If you can go by the manufacturers properties for the stuff, it seems a rather remarkable product.

If you find out any more, let us know.

Boggs is right, it's a trade name.  Just another "miracle" plastic.  I've used similar materials for low-pv applications (pv is load times speed)  Very similar in properties to rulon or frelon.  I have never encountered it except in lined bushings.

Here you go something close but sold in one foot increments.
   KetronŽ PEEK 1000
Chemically resistant structural and bearing & wear material for continuous use to 480°F (250°C). Product profile: Excellent chemical resistance. Very low moisture absorption. Inherently good wear and abrasion resistance. Unaffected by continuous exposure to hot water or steam. KetronŽ PEEK grades offer chemical and hydrolysis resistance similar to PPS, but can operate at higher temperatures. PEEK 1000 offers steam and wear resistance. This general purpose grade is unreinforced and offers the highest elongation and toughness of all PEEK grades. Meet FDA requirements CFR 21 Section 177.2415 & 177.2416 and ASTM D6262 S-PAEK 0111. Natural in color. Rod is priced per foot, standard length is 8' on all except 3" which is 4'.

Just a little pricey 1/4" PEEK Rod Foot    $5.95
                          1/2" PEEK Rod Foot   $22.42

They also have most other flavors of plastic, bottles, tanks, sheet, bar, along with small tin storage and packaging cans along with other lab grade stuff.

Ah, peek...I've seen that somewhere....?

Here, not sure if it's exactly the same stuff but may be just what you are looking for? Nice company to deal with btw.
