Machining Centre Workbench

(1/1)

sparky961:
This is a project I recently designed for in-house use where I work.  I like to stay pretty humble, but I'm proud of how this turned out and just wanted to show off a bit. :)

Though it's not something you're likely to build for your own hobby shop, it may give some ideas when you're planning your space.  A few weeks after it was commissioned, a second monitor was added above the first.

Design features include:
- Built-in surface plate (24" x 36" x 3")
- Storage for about 70 CNC tool holders of varying length
- MasterCAM computer & UPS shelves built in where you don't bump it with your knees, access door on left side
- Tilted computer work space for ergonomics and to keep people from setting things down there - it just rolls or slides away (keyboard is attached with double-sided foam tape)
- Side shelf for printer
- Shelves for drill/endmill dispensing boxes
- Peg-board compatible holes in many places (though a bit hard to see in the pictures)
- Comfortable to use computer while sitting on stool or standing, foot rest built in

It was a very engaging project to make everything fit, be easy to assemble, extremely functional and compact.

That is one cool bench. I have a ton of ideas from it. You should be proud.

Very nice.  Wanna make one for me?

Stilldrillin:
Very nicely done Sparky!

If only I could have had something similar, way back when........

Thanks for the kind words.

rleete: If you're serious, I think the freight would be a killer.  I'm always available for custom design work, however... ;)

David: At least you guys had a radio! (pretty sure that's what's sitting on the toolbox anyway)
