The Emergency Stop button, is a handy tool to use under those circumstances........  :D

Very pleased the operator wasn't damaged, during the exercise!

Indeed, the emergancy stop button is there, but never having used it before, it wasn't until some minutes ( well about an hour to be honest) later that I thought, maybe I should have used the emergancy stop button

Fortunately I was wearing my safety glasses as the bits flew from the mill and splattered across the glasses making a nice tinging splattery sound  :bang: All is good though, still safe and sound  I will post up the pictures later of the broken ones ...

Sounds interesting Steve!  :jaw:

Not a good feeling is it!? That's definitely a way to learn a very valuable lesson. I remember shattering endmills due to lack of knowledge..... Friendly forums helped a lot  :mmr:

Note about the bits hitting your face.... I've started wearing one of these http://www.wholesaletoolwarehouse.com/safety-and-workwear/eye-protection/140863-face-shield-visor

I wear my normal glasses while working (else I'd get nothing mad worth talking about) so this is a great solution instead of bulky (and often painful over a few hours) glasses over glasses.

Go on then  :worthless:  (note to our leaders.... I think we need a "Come on show us your pic's" version of this too?  :poke:   :)  When you're ready  )

Glad to hear you survived Steve!

Now that I have finally been prescribed glasses (just got them today), I am going to get a face shield like the one has shown.

Ordering my glow powder in the next few days. Thanks for the ideas Ralph.

OK, managed to get a couple of pictures sorted out. See if you can spot the deliberate mistakes made while making these items

The first and second pictures are of the one that I did in the wrong order and it didnt have enough strength to finish it, yes, I should have known better but I have to learn these things for myself...

The third, forth and fifth pictures are where I was lacking in light and took a (bad) best guess as to the height I needed the mill, this one caused the work to bend / crack and the mill to lock up. The forth one is its better side, lol....

It should be noted my camera always makes the work look somewhat grooved, in real life these pieces do not look that bad at all and would have polished up very nicely if only the operator could finish one properly, lol...

Damn, I just ordered one of these and paid the nice £6+ delivery which I didn't mind, right up until I just realised this company is about a 30 minute walk and I could have got there in my dinner hour and just paid cash  Ah well, what is done is done and its on its way now I guess, lol
