Any one going to the Northern Model Engineering Exhibition on the 2nd to 4th March at the Traford centre Manchester (Event city)

I'll be there on the Sunday the 4th.

I couple of my engines will be on show (over crank and popcorn) on the South Cheshire ME Society Stand.

I'm going, but on the Saturday. It's the first show at this venue, so I'm not expecting too much of it compared to well-established ones like Harrogate, but arriving in that frame of mind means I probably shan't be disappointed. Anyway, "Event City" is only 10mins drive, which is a big plus.

I was enjoying the heavy metal music until some heavily tattooed chap jumped on me and gave me a spiders web on my elbow. I had a good morning high with adrenaline, but where were the engines?

Chris, I too went into the wrong entrance at first, but a steward grabbed me and explained that I was queuing for tattooing. I guess he thought I looked a bit out of place!

They are mixed in with shots of the nearby Bridgewater canal; he was interested in the world's first and and only swinging aqueduct built in the 1890's to take the Bridgewater over the Manchester Ship Canal, so he took a look at it while in the area.

I thought it wasn't bad, for a first show at that venue. Compared to our other show in Northern England (Harrogate) the models were rather limited in scope. Mainly locos, model railway layouts and planes. There weren't many traders; I like looking round their stalls as much as I do envying the skills of others. The hall was much roomier than Harrogate, so much less jostling.

Plenty of people there, and hopefully that made it a success for the organisers, exhibitors and traders so we will see more shows there in the future, and they will build up in variety.

This is a genral idea what was there there was also model flying indoors live steam train rides and things like scalextric plus a lot of train displays that where very good unfortunatley they where all high up and I was not able to take pictures from my chair.

Sorry craynerd not many engines , did you not take any Pictures ?

In all genuine honesty, I was more concerned with some of the older chaps in the ME queue when I bloke with pink long hair, wearing a tarton kilt, a white blouse and knee high boots with a heavilt tattooed and pierced face nearly joined the queue with them until the stuward advised him that he might be at the wrong door!!

For anyone totally confused, the "Tattoo Tea Party" conference was next door to the ME event!

Did anyone see Wildings Large Wheel Skeleton. There was also another lovely skeleton clock on the Wigan stand that really got my attention. The front and back plate where very long and wide, cut from sheets of what looked to be 4-5mm brass plate!!!!

Yes, a real beauty and gold plated to finish! The crossing out of the wheels is amazing. I`ve not got plans for the this Wilding clock, but I`m not sure if he shows how to do these straight line crossings!

I dont know what the light was like when you where there but it was quite dark and if you used flash on the likes of the clock you just could not see the item as it was to bright. I should have taken my decent camera but the small compact is normaly ok in decent light.
