Hey Gerhard.... Looks like you're another 9X20 user?  Neat set up you have there

I've got to ask... The ball turner, is the second hole for the handle there by design or did you read the plan like I did the first time I made the turret?  Wondered what had happened when I test rotated it!!!!

Looks like it will do the job nicely, is the screw holding the cutter post in on a flat? Can it be turned round 180' for concave cuts?

I like the little pencil grinder mounting, I have a similar grinder, Haven't got round to mounting it yet.... Do you use it a lot? What do you used it on?

Just poking my nose in   :D

Ralph.

Just a side note, to see if your pictures are working well, use the preview button before posting.

Stew, are they appearing too big because your viewing them on your Ipod? mine cuts the side off a lot of pic's  ::)

Gerhard Olivier:
Hi Ralph

Made the upright part of the ball turner of silver steel (drill rod i think in US) and it can be rotated for concave.  I made a second mount for a bent hande if I dont want to remove topslide when ball cutting but it limits a lot of things (dont think ill use it much).

Have only used the mini grinder mount for spot drilling marking - to dril in the drill press (marking out a PCD). I have an idea to make the same thing again but to make it so the hight and angle can be ajusted????? will think some first.

Cheers

Gerhard,
I Am thinking I know what your saying about the curved handle, I was toying with the idea for the handle for the mini turner before the new owner changed his mind about it's fitting and use requirements (I've got all sorts of odd C-o-C's around here somewhere!)

Have you thought about a round cutter for the ball turner? It could be made very easily to fit into your holder design.

With the pencil grinder I think the adjustable holder would be the way to go... It would have to be quite ridgid if it was to be fully useable.... But I like the idea, could be good for small bores etc? It is quite easy to regulate the speed on mine, I assume they all have such adjustment?

One of those on an adjustable mount, a good selection of stones and cutters  (and a stone dresser) and you could probably get some good results in small scale items?... I think it is on my to try list.... Got to be worth a go?    :dremel:

Stew... You may have noticed I've been a bit of a dope and confused you with JohnS and his Ipod!!!  :bang:   Don't ask what happened there, I think I'm going to have to stop posting after 2am... This might let my brain recover!!

Anyhow, I am wondering if the widescreen monitor I have is helping me see the pic's with no problem?   Mac and a PC.... You got one in the 'shop and one in the house?
Spell checker is no bad thing, I keep a dictionary next to my Comp' for the words that just don't look right!  :)

Take

Care
