Holt lookalike

After the interest in my steam crane build (on another forum) I thought I'd share this one with you too.
I'm trying to copy the Holt steam crawler design (but not model it) Holt went on to become Caterpillar.
This is a Holt.



At the moment I'm at this stage.





I still have to work out the steering and I'm waiting on a bigger gas burner.

That's an interesting build thread you linked to, Bernie, and an interesting project, too. I didn't know that such a thing as a tricycle with caterpillar tracks existed.

Is that Meccano chain you are using? If so, I might come back to you regarding its strength. I've an idea for a project where a slimline chain like that would be useful. First, I need to find my fisherman's scales to find out how much pull is required to move what needs to be moved.

I quickly scanned through the pics. Looks like a pretty large machine. I like those tracks. What did they come from?
