Bumping this one up again as I found a Youtube piece on the non-round gears I talked about earlier. They were used as the intro to the Swedish TV program "Tekniskt magasin" a technically popularized show describing all storts of technical inventions and contraptions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zbSvdC-0Bc&feature=related Hope this gives an idea of a quite nice gear solution.
