Steam crane

(1/5) > >>

BK:
I started this in May, it's virtually finished, but I'm still tweaking it.
The main jib is 40" long and the fly is 18", the engine on the lower deck works the slew and a feedwater pump, the twin on the mid deck works the winches.
The winches work with a sliding "dog" clutch between them, the feed water pump runs with the engine, but returns the water to the tank until a valve is closed, then it feeds the boiler.
The boiler is a center flue with cross tubes and works well on the 2" gas burner.
The rope was a bit of a problem re. stretching and twisting, so that's braided fishing line, no stretch, no memory, it works good.
The jib is galv sheet, I bent all the angles and it's all soldered.
I'm happy with the result, all trial and error.....and a bit of crane driving experience.   :) :)
