Example! Took me 2 days searching to find correct way to
adjust a Grip-Tru chuck. I'm not a computer expert but I certainly ain't a novice.
Some of the search results out there are just plain WRONG.

I might be trying to teach people to suck eggs, but if you don't know it, this will help.

If you search for drill chuck, you will get results that come back with drill and chuck anywhere in the results.

If you put it in quotes - "drill chuck". It should only come back with the results where the two words are in one string.

There are a lot of other search string presentations that can be done, but this is the easiest.

Baldrocker:
Yes and things like + signs between words etc.
But the biggest rant I have about this particular subject is the so-called
spurts who stated that to adjust the Grip-tru the first step involved
slackening off the chuck to backplate bolts, now I am the first to
admit my newbie-ness but I cannot for the life of me imagine how
having a chuck flopping around on the backplate can help achieve
almost zero run out.
Oh I feel better now
Cheers

bogstandard:
BR,

This is where taking everything you read as gospel, and it can get you into trouble. It can be interpreted in many different ways. Common sense must prevail.

They almost certainly meant you to just take the white knuckle tightness off the holding bolts, where they still hold the chuck in full contact, but a bit of a grunt on the adjusting screws will move the chuck against the backplate.
Then after adjustment, white knuckle the holding bolts up, and recheck the runout.

That was described in laymans terms rather than technical.

But I am sure you figured that one out by yourself already.

Baldrocker:
Thanks Bogs.
