this cute little capture nut was made from a stick of stainless i had, it threaded really nice, and the nut is just a scrap nut that i bored and internally threaded to match, using a nut from a copper fitting i had laying around. the thread diameter is unimportant, just threaded it with fine threads. . . the bullet is a .22 hollow point for size ref. someone was looking for ideas for making simple stuff. i thought this might qualify. davidh |

I spliced two pcs of stainless buy drilling & tapping each end and using a sawed off socket head caps crew I screwed the two pcs together. Of course they were nicely faced off first, after being tightly screwed together I Plunged the lathe tool into the shaft just a little to reduce the diameter and finish that smaller diameter for threading. Afternthreading, I unscrewed the joint, made a nut to loosely fit the threads then screwed the shafts back together using red lactate so it wouuld come apart. A fun project and neat little gift. |
