Newbie with Warco lathe question
« on: August 18, 2011, 06:47:04 AM »
Hello, first post, just getting back into machining and starting to build my shop up. I have a bit of an issue, can anyone advise what is the current Warco WM280 lathe and where it is on there site.

I know this sounds like an obvious question, but any response appreciated.

If you can afford teh extra I'd suggest you go for the variable speed one and preferably power cross feed.

Isn't the first WM280 highlighted by Pete variable?

I saw the "WM-280B" in the link and that used to be the belt drive version but the actual link takes you to the variable speed lathe without power cross feed. Seems they no longer do the belt drive one. So yes the variable is better but for teh extra £100 ore so the power cross feed is very handy, I would not be without it now having had the lathe for about 3 years.

You could also check on the Chester UK   DB10VS, same lathe different colour, and about £100 less cost.   I have no connection to Chester UK, just a satisfied customer

The DB10VS (250mm swing, etc)is not the same but the DB11VS (280mm swing) is similar.
