A new workbench

Hi to all,

With the lathe project on hold for the moment I started on another overdue project, a new workbench.  I had the frame made by a local welding shop as welding is one of the things I just cannot do properly any more.

First made some shelves from brown stuff and gave them a decent cote of paint for protection.

I collected and made some bits.

Then welded it all together. Made a bit of a mess and had to do some heavy grinding.

The top is a piece of 4mm sheet steel I bought through a friend at an industrial radiator works.  This was space welded to the frame on the inside.  Then marked and drilled some holes to mount a vice, had to do some improvising to drill the holes.

The complete bench was then given a nice cote of paint.

And at the moment I am waiting for the paint to dry so it can be assembled.

Hi all,

Eric, David D  thanks for the comments.

Finished the workbench today.

With wheels and collapsible handles for easy movement, and adjustable feet for the uneven courtyard floor.

Ready to be used.
