LED Fluoro workshop tubes anyone tried them yet?

--- Quote from: dickda1 on June 22, 2011, 01:24:20 PM ---I replaced the incandescent lamps on my grinder and mill with LEDs. I like the fact that the lamp housing does not get hot and that it is so small I can move the light into smaller areas. I get them from our local Ikea store for about $12, already threaded for mounting to a metal plate.
Thanks for the link to the site about fluorescent vs LED lights. I didn't understand the cost ratio.

Which one you got? I bought one fairly substantial (clamp and all) and something 20 or 30 Euros of worth. Or not exactly: Ikea has a very bad reputation here. I put the lamp on at the breakfast, just to see if works before I'll take it to the shop. I was fine for almost three minutes and then headed south. I didn't risk annother but asked my money back and bought halogen. Less bad electronics. But I would have liked that small and relatively cool LED light.

Pekka,
I use the JANSJÖ clamp light. The clamp can be easily removed and the lamp bolted into a hole on my equipment. The light is not intense like a halogen lamp, but I can move it in real close. It appears to be frequently on sale over here.

Ikea also has a reputation for marginal stuff of here as well, but I have have a bunch of these lights and haven't had a problem.

Hi Dick,
The lemon lamp I got was exacltly like that one. I think it was the poxy wall wart that failed. Transparent affair.
I liked the size and spesification, but execution.
Maybe I have better luck with another one. Surely customers keep returning broken ones untill they get them right.
Pekka
