MZ Cylinder
« on: June 29, 2011, 02:52:17 PM »
The cylinder from my old MZ ts250 needed to be fixed.. apparently the pictures are 'backwards' meaning that the last picture in the thread should have been the last and vice versa!

Opening the honing stones.

Honing

Finished with the boring.

The setup. The cylinder is bolted to the jaws of the chuck allowing much faster speeds than with only chucking at the base.

Not too many of those around now. I had a MZ ETS 250 - the only bike I ever bought new. It was a nice enough bike until I had a serious crash on it.
It is good to see someone doing serious repair work on one.

Many bikers are unaware of just how much the Japanese manufacturers such as Suzuki got from MZ and the research and design work Walter Kaaden did.

Great post
I'm interested in how you held the cylinder in the chuck, looks like you made up your own jaws.

Had some soft jaws that i welded a piece of round stock to, bored it to correct diameter, chucked the cylinder and then marked out holes to be drilled and tapped! Ill take a picture of them later today!    :D
