 :lol: Rob, the thought occurred to me - but chips and keyboards don't mix  :palm: - and at any given time I have at least 4 around me...  Guess I'll have to stick to testing the Internet connection during office hours  :lol:

Dave - I know you were just pulling my leg  :ddb:.  How did you guess I was switching it on and off and watching it go round ? :lol:   It was standing in my kitchen as I have to make a space for it in the shop; and gave a nice spray of oil all over the show from the chuck when I took it up to speed  :doh:

Thanks Stew - yes, it is a bit bright  :palm:....  Aye - lots of tooling threads coming; and lots of bits needing buying as well; fortunately I kept a couple of quid aside for that  :med:.  Like you said, the Chinese seem to be catching on; this one came with a full inspection report on how square and parallel and so on it is - even to the point of specifying how well the tailstock is aligned. 

David, Chris - Cheers; it was purpose bought for the fiddly bits; I'll keep you updated.  Shop time is currently a bit limited though...
