As I tell the guys at hunting camp every year:  It's a good thing I enjoy this, as I don't seem to be very good at it!

Happy Christmas and Merry New Year from Upstate New York.

Rog02:
This has been around for a few years but I always get a chuckle from it

A Home Machinist The Night Before Christmas.

T'was the Night before Christmas and all through the shop,
The machines were all silent, the phase converter stopped.

The change gears were hung on the cabinet with care,
in hopes that when needed, they'd all still be there.

I was surfing on my laptop, kicked back on the couch
SWMBO had been shopping, she was already passed out.

I heard someone rustling out near the shop door
so I grabbed the shotgun, it was 10:44.

In his red suit and hat, he didn't look rough
Said, "Your neighbor claims you're good at fixing odd stuff."

Well, he looked like a cross between Forrest and Harold,
So I calmed down and lowered the old double barrel.

He said, "I know it's late and I hate to be pushing,
but this old sleigh has a worn steering bushing."

"I'm in a pickle, I'm nowhere near done.
I've got to make Kamchatka before 12:01."

I told him I'd help out, and opened the door,
He sat down and we chatted while I measured the bore.

I fired up a lathe and whipped him one out,
Tolerance under a thousandth, no doubt.

He said "what's the charge?" I said,"dont worry.
Just get loaded up, you really need to hurry"

He stroked his white beard, then smiled and said "here!"
and produced from his sack, a case of good beer.

I helped him get loaded and he thanked me some more,
That sleigh was steering better than ever before.

And I hear him mutter as he left in a whirl,
"At least there's a few machinists left in this world!"

On a lighter note now, we've all been to dance classes and would like to share our experiences with you.

Have a real good time over the holidays.
