Charity Steam Up.......
« on: May 20, 2011, 01:41:53 PM »
Around a dozen members of the Steamtoy forum, (and some Modders), are having their annual steam up, in aid of the Rainbows Children's Hospice.

The date is Saturday, 28th of May.

The venue is The Wellington Inn, Nottingham rd., Eastwood , Notts.

Not all steamtoys...... I will be showing Mrs. Robinson, Huxtable, 4 cylinder Mamod (Quobble), Maiwald flamelicker, plus as many orphan engines as I can carry/ fit on the table.....

Anyone dropping in to say hello will be very welcome!

Hi Dave

Oh. Right ... 10 AM ish ..

Dunno what times the pubs open ...

I'm a poor pensioner with a lathe and milling machine to support. Pubs no longer figure in my life ..

For my modest needs in the slurp department, the local 'Offie' has a good selection of excellent imported beers at an advantageous price.

I need pubs like a kangaroo needs a Pogo Stick ..

We will all be setting up from 10.00...... If you'd like to help, you're welcome at that time Dave.

But, as hundreds of prospective visitors will be reading this...........  :)

I think 11.00 would be a better start time, finishing around 16.30.

Hope it is as good as last time. I met a lot of lovely, happy people and families.  :D

Hi Dave SD

OK, will be there about 10:30 ish  .. split the diff.

Stormin' Norm here yesterday, left this .. see pic.

Cast iron I think .. 3 7/8" OD, 13/16" Wide, 5/8" Bore.
Crowned on the edge ( can't spell periphery ), once may have been a flat belt pulley.
Too heavy to be a woolley pulley ...

Yours if you want it .. he was going to dump it.

Dave,

With it being for charity, if you have a paypal account, and make some sort of effort to post a short vid or a few pics (you've got to do something for your money), then I am more than willing to make a modest donation for your efforts, and I am sure a few other people might do as well.

Thank you John!

What a nice thought!

I was going to post a link to the more interesting Steamtoy Forum postings.

Guess I'll make time to take a few pics, and a vid or two of my own.......

Dave,

Unfortunately, I don't give directly to charities myself, and only if I collect from someone else do I pay it into The Christie Hospital, my personal charity. I only make donations to people who are doing something to help the nominated cause.

I would love to be able come across, and be there in person, but it is the thought that counts.

If you can PM me your address, I will pop something in an envelope and send it to you, then it will be able to go directly into your Steam Up collection.

Well.
What a super day we all had! I counted a minimum of 6 Modders attending.

The look on Pete the Organiser's face at the end of the day was a joy to behold. We almost saw a grown ex miner cry.......

As I spent most of the day at my own table, I am short on pics..... Didn't even get out front, to see the street organ!

Here's my table.......

I will post links to the Steamtoy members write ups, as/ when they are posted over there........

Very many thanks to all Modders who attended and contributed. (You know who you are).

If anyone else would like to contribute, however little, to the Children's Hospice... My paypal address is,  stilldrillin@gmail.com

David D

P.S.

Just found out........ We made over £500 yesterday!!!    :bugeye: :D :D

What a lovely, caring, little community we are.....

Sorry not to have replied earlier, liked your #10, thought it may have been one of Elmers numbered engines.
Can you give the bore/stroke of #10 please  ??
