5c to MT?
<< < (2/2)
Bogstandard:
Thanks for the positive comments gents, I was expecting all sorts of 'easier ways' types of comments about holding a 3MT accurately on the mill.

I actually have three pieces of tailstock tooling I want to make, ranging from the very simple to rather complicated, so the cost of the 5c blank end arbor will be more than worth it, even if it is never used again.

Invest a little, gain a lot.

Very nicely shown bogs, I'm greatly inspired by your idea of having interchangeability between the machines!

Just another satisfied customer! I took your great idea and made three adapters this weekend, a 3MT, an R-8 and a ER-40 collet holder using the blank 5C fixture mounts.

C,

Very nice indeed.

It's nice to know that I have given someone a little bit of inspiration to go out and say that they could do the same sort of thing, and that it is a tool that will help them in the long term.

I am lucky in that I have a spindexer with the ER32 mount built into it, it saves me having to make one as you have.

A few bucks spent buying the arbors to make this sort of tooling is never wasted. Maybe not in the short term, but over the years, these bits of cheap tooling will more than pay for themselves when you come across little problems that can't be solved by any other means.

I do have a couple more bits of taper tooling for the tailstock to make, so when eventually I get back into the swing of things, maybe they will be of interest as well.
