...I put the vice on and broke out the new set of hold downs, tee nuts etc.  But they did not fit! ...

Exactly what I found with my new set. A few firm strokes with a file cured that problem.

Dave.

I was going to do that too Dave, first choice was look at the shaper but that still have half the bits packed away, then the file but the vice is standing loose on the bench so I gave the mill its very first job!

I do believe John that Chester did a better job of specing the mill than 'Luxcut' did!  But mine has a nicer blue colour!

The oil tank is obviously inside the casting and the only way I can see to fill is via that flip top oiler but pouring oil in there didnt seem to show on the sight gauge but oil started to run out of the slide.

Something that is interesting is that the oil lines show signs of having been undone since the machine was painted....hmmmm

I am thinking I should take that pump off and take a look inside the tank checking for sand and flakes of paint.

Hi Bog, where did you find The quill (depth drilling) scale.
It sounds as I could use one.  :D

Benni,

I purchased mine from here, and cut it down to fit exactly. The second ones down.

John,

That is one of the problems when trying to help, even though they are basically the same machine, each retailer gets them made to their own specifications.

Mine has infinite speed control from 0 to 2200 at the turn of a knob, whereas I think yours is belt change, the front of the head, where your depth vernier is is different to mine, mine is the same as on a Bridgeport, different spec DRO etc etc., but still, under the skin, the same machine.

Benni,

I have a personal distrust of these scale units, I wouldn't use one anywhere near where there is swarf or suds. Up on the top of the mill is fairly safe.
